New Design Request
The development process for the Design System considers that Product teams and the design system team may need to operate to different timelines, technologies, and use cases.
When considering a new design, we review:
- Does a component for this already exist?
- Does that component meet the expected requirements?
- Is this extensible beyond the current project?
This helps to determine if something should be a "Snowflake" - a unique component specific to a project, a modification to an existing component or something to be created by the Design System team for the Product team.
These discussions can happen as part of the regular governance meetings.
